The FURIOUS is a sleek bike with timeless lines. It can shake up times on the clock thanks to its energy and it’s guaranteed to put a smile on the face of riders who love steep freeride lines, letting loose and just having big fun.
Designing a simple and efficient bike is not actually that simple.
The FURIOUS is a melting pot of technology which draws on our experience from the design and engineering of its predecessors.
To achieve this result, we worked at length on the kinematics, geometry and the construction of the frame itself.
On the construction side, the FURIOUS is made with a series of triple butted aluminium tubes (AL 6066), the shapes of which have been reworked to improve their mechanical characteristics. The weight of the frame is improved, and the longitudinal and transverse flex is more controlled.
For the kinematics, two ‘anchor’ positions are available for the rocker and they are easily changeable.
Two major benefits of this system are;
1) Being able to use a spring or air shock independently without having to make compromises.
2) The choice between a function that favours grip (sensitive) or that focuses more on energy (responsive). In other words, riding a bit more of a DH bike (sensitive) or more bike park/jumps (responsive).
The two kinematic curves are already more linear than those of its predecessor, for better contact with the ground (tyre/ground contact is more accurate/pronounced) and more comfort through the travel.
Therefore, it’s now possible to run lower SAG without compromising comfort.
Reliability also remains one of our major interests.
The bearings are oversized, and the rocker is designed to minimise stress on the shock.
This ensures better functioning all-round and maximises reliability.
The rocker is connected to the seat stays by best integrating them to visually form a single piece.
Integration is a personality trait of the FURIOUS. Refined lines. Simplicity is key.
The shock support is embedded in the down tube.
The bike is ‘cleaned’ of all the elements which complicate the line of the frame.
As for the finishing touches, the cable passage holes are positioned as close as possible to the main pivot point in order to reduce the chances of displacement and wear.
New bushing inserts on the steerer make a perfect fit.
The chain stay protector (double density injected) is completely revised. The body is made of polypropylene for excellent coverage. The gum material is thick and is shaped to prevent distracting noises.
The FURIOUS now also has a bash guard on the underside of the down tube. No more worrying about paint chips or throwing it over a pickup pad.
